Koru Solutions Culture
Koru Solutions is built upon a mix of innovative thinking and a
culture or attitude of always finding ways to improve on the complete
and never accepting anything as impossible.
Koru Solutions ingenuity has come from our staff, all of which
have worked in different continents, and different cultures. To
succeed in such environments requires an adventurous, sometimes
tough and hardworking nature in these uncertain lands. Koru Solutions
ingenuity has developed from a need to improvise, resulting from
a degree of isolation, particularly because getting things whilst
"overseas" always takes a longer time than you would expect.
We had to become "Jacks and Jills of all trades", because
we didn't have the ease or familiarity of access to specialists
and support that one has in a more familiar setting.
In some instances innovation has resulted from a lack of budget,
which has led to a need to think of a cheaper way to solve a problem.
The point of Koru Solutions ingenuity is not necessarily brilliant
thinking but more the ability to think around a problem when everyone
else thinks it is unsolvable, ie. lateral thinking.
"Our great ideas do not have the ability to simply transform
themselves. Someone has to do it. Success comes not from the idea,
but from your commitment to it" - Weisbrod
In many respects the "culture" of Koru Solutions ingenuity
can be summed up by the comments made by one of the sons of Bill
Gallagher (of electric fencing fame);
"....academics are very much inclined to look at the book
and read the book and say the book says it cannot be done and so
don't try it, whereas .... we still have a number of people .....,
who say look, to hell with the book, let's have a try anyway. And
it is with that sort of attitude we have done a lot of things that
according to the academics would never ever work".
Koru Solutions ingenuity is more than just innovation, it is a
culture of innovative and lateral thinking. Koru Solutions ingenuity
is exemplified by the following factors:
- finding new ways to solve old problems
- the back yard workshop
- "do it yourself" mentality
- "nothing is impossible!"
- "give it a go"
- "it's too expensive so I will make it myself"
- "it isn't too hard to solve"
- willingness to think outside the box
- always consider the bigger picture
Koru Solutions ingenuity is managed and implemented within an appropriate
business structure to ensure positive influences.
"Nobody can be successful with only the ideas of other
people, you have to add something of your own" - Bob Riley
An important survival characteristic of successful companies is
that innovation must be continuous. It also means taking risks,
always challenging the status quo, and realising that there can
be a better way. Provided ideas are developed within a sensible
development framework, innovation and ingenuity, in balance, are
important factors to the success of Koru Solutions clients.
We do not claim that this is an easy task, but Koru Solutions are
a very resourceful and creative lot.
